Top 5 Things to Watch on Netflix

Like a lot of people, I really love relaxing by finding a good TV Programme or Movie to watch and for me, one of life’s little pleasures is sitting down with a cuppa and getting lost in a TV series with a bag of Maltesers. Don’t judge… I’m only human! 😉

With a world that moves faster than we can usually keep up with, relaxing with your feet up is not an indulgence, it’s a necessity. Whether you have your feet up and are reading a good book or watching a good programme on TV, as long as you are getting some down-time, it really doesn’t matter.

Netflix has so much choice when it comes to programmes and especially series but let’s be honest, there is also a huge amount of poop on there too.

It can be overwhelming and frankly take too bloody long to sift through the choices so I thought I would regularly share what I have enjoyed watching with a little programme description and hopefully my recommendations will help you find something to get lost in for a little while.

My Top 5 Recommendations

1) Poldark

Historical Drama

Poldark is a British Historical drama set in the 18th Century and based on the novels by Winston Graham. The filming takes place in Cornwall and a great deal of the programme is filmed with the sea as the backdrop.

The story is centred around Captain Ross Poldark who returns to Cornwall from the American Revolutionary war and realises that life there is very different to when he left.

I’ve just finished season 2 and I’m missing it already! I love watching historical dramas and being immersed in a picture of what life was like for people in that era and this programme does not disappoint. There is plenty of drama to keep you entertained!

2) Safe

Psychological Thriller

Safe follows the journey of a Father searching for his missing daughter whilst unearthing lots of dark secrets about the close neighbours that live near him and his children in a gated community. There are lots of twists and turns being unveiled in this drama series and the writers certainly keep you guessing.

I really enjoy psychological thrillers and this one had me hooked. There is only 1 season to watch and it’s definitely one for the list.

3) Unforgotten

Crime Series

Two detectives investigate historic cold cases involving missing persons, murder cases and long hidden secrets. The detectives fight hard to get to the bottom of things and tirelessly follow old leads to get to the bottom of what happened to the victim.

Definitely one to get lost in. With all the dark secrets that have been buried for years along with some horror stories of things that have happened in the past, it’s hard not to get hooked.

4) Designated Survivor

Political Thriller

Kiefer Sutherland plays the Cabinet member, Tom Kirkman. Tom is listed as a designated survivor and when a bomb blast kills the current President of the United States, he takes the reins of a Government and the country in chaos.

There are 2 seasons on the Flix at the moment and I’ve watched them both. I really like the character that Kiefer plays and in each new episode is another drama unfolding that Tom and his cabinet members and team need to solve.

5) Line of Duty

Crime Drama

The anti-corruption team within the Police Force investigate fellow officers to uncover corrupt cops and put them behind bars.

As a big fan of crime drama’s, this one was right up my street. It’s gritty and interesting and I couldn’t stop watching!

That’s my top 5 for now! I’ll be back soon with my next top 5 🙂 Feel free to share your recommendations with me in the comments below!
