Lavender fields are a bloggers dream but they are so much more than that! A chance to walk amongst the lavender, bees and butterflies is a truly uplifting experience.

Hubby and I decided to visit the Mayfield Lavender fields on the Surrey Downs and they didn’t disappoint. The strong smell of soothing lavender was just incredible and the views of rows upon rows of lavender was nothing short of majestic. If it wasn’t almost 30 degrees celsius out there, I think we could have stayed there all day and night. We certainly would have slept well!

Lavender is well-known for its ability to reduce stress, promote restful sleep and improve our moods so imagine the benefits of walking in a field full of it!

Mayfield Lavender is a stunning 25 acre organic lavender farm that grows three different types of lavender. It is located in Banstead, Surrey and is open 7 days a week 9am – 6pm from the 1st June to 16th September, however if you are going purely for the lavender, it is usually in bloom from the middle of June to the end of August. We went at just the right time and I thought I’d write this post as soon as I got home so that you get a chance to go and visit the fields too.

It’s only £2 per adult and under 16 year olds can enter for free. There is a car park but spaces are limited. We went at a busy time on a Sunday and we managed to park so you should be ok and the wait isn’t long even if it’s full.

They don’t permit picnics on site but if you’re hungry, there are some little food stalls where you can buy panini’s, burgers, hot dogs etc. and delicious sweet treats and ice cream, some even flavoured with lavender. There are plenty of benches outside for you to perch on whilst you eat and drink and there’s a little shop selling lots of lavender-scented creams, lotions and potions as well as freshly cut lavender. It’s literally is a lavender lover’s paradise!

There are tractor rides and tours for £2 per person which is a fabulous way to see the whole farm if you don’t fancy walking it. It’s great fun for the little ones and babies get to ride for free! Tickets can be bought whilst there from the shop or cafe.

Dogs are welcome as long as they are kept on a lead and you clean up any poop and there are plenty of portaloo’s available if you need to have a tinkle.

It is a wonderful way to spend a couple of hours in the sunshine and definitely well worth a visit.
